Inclement Weather Policy

During the summer months there is potential for a high heat index.  JCPS does not allow us to practice in a heat index of 106+, plus, that’s very hot!  We will not run if there is thunder or lightning.  However, we will always practice if it is just raining.  As our former coach, Mr. Murphy, says: “If it ain’t raining, it ain’t training!”

Summer is hot!  Getting acclimated to the heat is very important.  In order to prepare your student athletes, start acclimating now with short runs or walks with short increments of running.  Please advise your student athletes to hydrate throughout the day as well as fueling their body prior to practicing in the heat.
